It was the winter of 1980. My brother and I, wrapped in blue robes, ran down the stairs to be greeted by a brand new Atari 2600 and bevy of games under the tree.
It was my first Gamer's Christmas. What was yours?
Since that cold Maryland winter 30 years ago I've had many other memorable Christmas Days made merry by video games and technology. There was the Christmas my brother and I got a TRS-80, the Christmas my wife bought an Xbox for me, the Christmas I received a Playstation. But none will ever match in my memory that very first year of gaming, a year in which memories of Star Trek figures, Lone Ranger adventure sets and a Six Million Dollar Man Bionic Transport and Repair Station gave way to the mother of all gaming gifts.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, or holiday, or weekend, and that you if you're in the mood you share it with us in pictures. Happy pictures.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
p.s. I'm the one with the giant head in the center of the pic apparently stunned to immobility by the Atari 2600. My brother is the one in the questionable robe.
