EA Tiburon online software engineer Ben Burbank quit his job today, but not without leaving a pixelated postcard to the people he met along the way, inspired by iPad adventure game Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP.
Leaving a job is never easy. Our jobs are a major portion of our life, often taking up more of our time than any other aspect. When we leave we take years of memories, and hopefully leave behind a lasting impression. Ben Burbank certainly has.
His interactive goodbye message is a cross section of his time with EA, celebrating the people he met during his tenure that made a difference in his life. It didn't take long to create, Ben tells us, just six or seven hours thanks to Flixel and "some obviously crude pixel work," but it's a touching monument to his time spent coding.
When I one day depart Kotaku, I'll be leaving behind the lifeless bodies of some of the finest people I've ever worked with. I hope that will be appreciated as much as I appreciate Ben's farewell.
So Long, Old Friends [Ben Burbank]
