The Long Now Foundation, which was founded to foster long-term thinking, recently opened a new bar in San Francisco called The Interval, and designed by Because We Can. The space features exotic drinks, an orrery, a library designed to help rebuild society in case of collapse, and soon...two functioning robots:
The Wunderkammer is nestled under the stairway.
The Manual for Civilization will feature 3,500 books recommended by donors and an all-star group of thinkers.
The bar offers a selection of exotic alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. And in "several months," it will feature two robots—one crafting drinks, and another writing the day's specials.
You can support The Interval with contributions ranging from $100 for a challenge coin, to $1,500 for a bottle of whiskey or gin that will hang from the rafters, awaiting your use. ($500 refill fee.)
The Interval is located in the Fort Mason Center and is open from 10:00 am to midnight.
