Deathmatch comes in all shapes and sizes, but some of the most satisfying modes are the ones you don't expect. Particle Mace knows this, and lets you swing lo-fi garbage at your friends.

At Indiecade East, a yearly conference for indie game developers in New York, I interviewed designer Andy Wallace about his game Particle Mace. It's a game about using physics as your weapon, about manipulating inertia. The result is a game that looks like a bunch of microscopic organisms dancing each other to death in a hypnotic game of chicken.
