BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is coming to PS4, Switch, and PC on June 5. Arc System Works’ fighting game currently has a revealed roster of 20 characters but plans to add 20 more, starting with Blake Belladonna from RWBY, through DLC. That’s outraged a number of fans although it’s unclear how it will all be priced.

I just want to point out that the base game will likely cost $40, and the limited day 1 edition of the game that includes all the DLC + a few more things costs just slightly more than your typical AAA game.

If they just didn’t mention the base version of the game and only talked about the “complete” version of the game being at the regular price point, this wouldn’t be a news story at all.

People have a reaction to seeing “50% of characters are DLC”, without looking closer at what’s actually happening.

It’s bad marketing, but you can liken this to how Killer Instinct has a similar way of selling characters.
