The Week In Games: Curse Of More Loot

Illustration for article titled The Week In Games: Curse Of More Loot

Destiny 2's first DLC expansion arrives this week which means too many of us will be magically drawn back into its universe and grinding for loot whether we want to or not.

Last week Bungie laid out a number of small changes coming to the game when Curse of Osiris arrives as well as some due early next year. It’s too little too late if you ask me, but as with the first Destiny, I know I’ll inevitably settle for just about any excuse to go back and shoot stuff in that series. It just feels too damn good. Plus those skyboxes. *Sigh*.

Otherwise there’s a smattering of smaller games coming this week along with a few PS2 classics. I have my eyes on Hello Neighbor and Nine Parchments but I can also hear Tokyo Xanadu eX+ calling. It’s a deluxe port of the original Vita real time action JRPG with super anime story that I always seem to fall for. I hate grinding in games but I also love it.

This week, we have a bunch of gamers doing the gross and pathetic “Masturbate through the tears” thing and buying an expansion for a game that they like to say they hate but they don’t really hate.

Meanwhile, I’m just sitting over here, 2 years behind the times, playing Arkham Knight: All The Goodies Edition, having paid $10 and avoiding all of those pesky launch date bugs.

I’m telling ya, life is so much better in the gaming slow lane guys. It’s not just about the gaming being cheaper, it’s about being able to laugh at all the suckers who’s identities are so wrapped up in gaming that they can’t just treat it like a leisure activity. They’re so enmeshed that the thought of just abandoning any aspect of it that they don’t like or find upsetting or sad doesn’t compute.
