The HTC Vive is now $599, receiving its first official price drop since the virtual reality headset launched last year at $799. That puts the Vive at $100 more than the Rift/Touch combo, though the latter is current on sale for a limited time for $399. (Updated with latest Rift pricing)

Got both (because Oculus sent me a free Rift, only reason) but I’ve learned to like the Oculus a little bit more. It’s a lot less...fiddly. You don’t need to plug in a power pack, you don’t need to balance sensors at high points around your room. I think if you’re working in more space and you can keep it plugged in all the time the Vive probably pulls ahead, but for most people (especially at a $200 price difference) I’d suggest the Oculus.
