Night Dive Studios, specialists in re-releasing classic PC games for more modern hardware, have announced today that they’ll soon be bringing Turok 2 (first released in 1998) back from the dead.
Having worked on restoring the original Turok (as well as games like System Shock), the announcement doesn’t really say much beyond the fact it’ll be released “when it’s done”, but then, it doesn’t really need to.

Turok 2 was a cool video game, and it had multiplayer where the original did not. People have always loved guns and dinosaurs, and they will always love them.
For an idea of the kind of stuff you can expect, here’s what they did to the original Turok:
- Support for high resolutions, and widescreen
- Improved gameplay and level design
- OpenGL for video backend to provide portability and support for vertical sync
- Dynamic lighting, bloom, FXAA, enhanced water effects, lights shafts and more
- Ability to freely rebind all keyboard, mouse, and gamepad inputs
- Steam Achievements
