The PS4’s new Media Player should now be available for download. Which you should do: it finally transforms the PS4 into a proper media centre, allowing for playback of movies and music over both wi-fi (DLNA) and USB.

This is honestly the best news I’ve heard all day, because it has an immediate and positive impact for me. This is the one missing feature that’s held the ps4 back, and now we have it, far improved over the ps3’s function!

Note: you can use PS3 Media Server on your pc with this, works fine. In fact, I just ran a 720p movie (Kumiko The Treasure Hunter) flawlessly; the ps3 struggled with hd video streaming. Even better, I watched it on my Vita via remote play! Took them long enough, but the ps4 is finally a great media box, all around.
