Following up on last year's spectacular Simpsons house set, LEGO returns to Springfield with one of the fictional town's most iconic retail establishments. Your own miniature Kwik-E-Mart franchise can be yours in May for $200.
That's a lot of dough—$50 less than the $250 house set—but you get a lot for the money. For starters, it comes with a cardboard box.
And what an informative cardboard box it is. It tells us how many pieces the set consists of, always good to know. We get a look at the six figures in the box, including the set-exclusive Snake.
And we see that the entire shop opens up, allowing collectors and especially lucky young children an unprecedented look at the world inside the Kwik-E-Mart.
Not only that, but with the store closed you can pull away the secret rooftop vegetable garden...
...and get an overhead view of the shop's layout. You know, in case you want to rob the place.
Did I mention it comes with Chief Wiggum's police car? It has an opening trunk and seats three minifigures.
Had I the cash and the room, I'd be on this set like a man with the cash and the room. The detail level here is pretty amazing.
All is not lost for Simpsons fans on a tight budget. The second wave of Simpsons minifigures is on the way, bringing 16 new characters from the show to LEGO land for $3.99 or so apiece.
The LEGO Kwik-E-Mart will be available online starting on May 1, which is also my birthday, in case any of my family is reading.
