Ever wanted pretty Japanese anime boys to lull you to sleep with sweet words? Well, then Makura no Danshi—which translates to “Pillow Boys”—was made for you.
Makura no Danshi is a short-form anime where each episode clocks in at about four minutes. The formula is simple: Each episode follows a different pretty anime boy who lovingly converses with you, the viewer, as you drift off to sleep.
The first-episode boy is the titular “Pillow Boy,” Merry. He is cute, needy and has been waiting on you to return home from work. Apparently, after you have teased him, he recounts his day and laments how lonely he is when you aren’t around. Then as you drift off to sleep, he invites you to snuggle up close.
The second episode presents a completely different boy and situation. In this one, you are a working woman who drank too much after work and passed out. Our boy for this episode, the “Senpai Boy” Sousuke Tanaka is taking you home by cab. Your senior at work, he’s lovingly taking care of you in your half-drunk, half-hung over stupor. He bares his soul to you, talking about problems at work, and then goes on to assure you he’ll get you home safely as he urges you to sleep.
Currently at episode three, the series will be 12 episodes long with each young man and situation aimed at creating a popular romantic scene with you as the romantic foil. So if you want dreams full of loving anime boys, this might be one to watch.
