Snake? Snake? SNAAAAAAAAKE? Oh, sorry about the yelling. Just wanted to know what you've got under the hood of your PC.
Konami's released the PC specs for the (phantom) painfully long-awaited PC release of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the mini open-world prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Here's what you'll need to run it:
Minimum Specifications:
OS: Windows Vista 64-Bit or later
Processor: Core i5 SandyBridge 4Core (4 Thread) 2.7GHz or above
Memory: 4 GB RAM or above
Graphics: GeForce GTX 650 or above
DirectX: Version 11 or above
Recommended Specifications:
OS: Windows Vista 64-Bit or later
Processor: Core i5 SandyBridge 4Core (4 Thread) 2.7GHz or above
Memory: 8 GB RAM or above
Graphics: GeForce GTX 760 or above
DirectX: Version 11 or above
So nothing too crazy, but you probably won't be running Ground Zeroes on a creaky old laptop either.
Konami has also been quite intent on letting the world know that this won't be one of those barebones PC ports that sullies a series' good name forever. They've promised customizable controls, Steam achievements, Steam Cloud support, and all that good stuff. Of course, there could still be framerate locks and restrictive graphics pre-sets, so we'll have to wait and see before we can officially declare this A Good Port.
For now, though, I'm suddenly realizing that I shouted "METAL GEAR" in a Solid Snake voice in a bar the other night, and I don't remember why. Oh wait, no, the other thing: are you getting Ground Zeroes on PC? Will this be your second go-'round, or have you held out for the PC release for the better part of a year?
