Console hardware sales in Japan took a dip this week, as week-to-week sales slid on lower numbers for the Nintendo DSi and PSP. But a small boost in Wii and Xbox 360 helped ensure the week wasn’t a total loss.

Maybe enough Japanese gamers were just holding out for the Wii remake of Nintendo’s Chibi Robo, originally released on the GameCube. Maybe, going by commenter theory, everyone already has a DSi and PSP, and this will be the last week we’ll have to wonder about Japanese gamer buying habits.
The hardware changes don’t quite line up with the week’s new software releases, which saw new PSP and DS software hitting, PlatinumGames’ Infinite Space landing in the top spot. But here’s how the console war went down in Japan.
