Wii and Wii Fit Top Searched For Items on eBay on Black Friday

Black Friday may have swamped stores across the country, but it also lead to some massive shopping on eBay as well. Top of the list for most searched for item? The Nintendo Wii.

eBay sent out a press release today to crow about their Black Friday successes, talking up the most searched for items among their many auctions.

The most searched for product on eBay across all categories on Black Friday was the Nintendo Wii, 3,171 of which sold on the site. Following it was the Nintendo Wii Fit with 1,059 sold on the site.

The Wii sold on average for $349, while the Wii Fit sold on average for $140. The two other top video game sellers on ebay were the PS3 and "Rock Band Video Game Bundles" which sold for $355 and $100 respectively.

Across the board, Pay Pal (which is owned by eBay) saw 34 percent more transactions than in 2007 and saw a 26 percent increase in online payment volume.

Shoppers can visit eBay and Shopping.com to purchase all of their holiday items at unbeatable prices, and can pay quickly and securely with PayPal.”

Shoppers are Clicking for Deals

With money tighter than ever, shoppers are hitting the Web to find the best values for their hard-earned cash. A recent Nielsen study found that 78 percent of adult online users made a purchase on the Web in the past six months.1 Additionally, a recent survey conducted by Survey.com on behalf of eBay found that getting “great deals” was the most important criteria for shoppers when choosing where to shop online this holiday season.

Shoppers are taking advantage of the great deals on eBay to find must-have gifts. Black Friday online shoppers took advantage of eBay’s great deals, including the Daily Deal, $1 Holiday Doorbusters, Bid from $1 and Microsoft Live Search cashback. Consumers also turned to Shopping.com for their holiday shopping needs, searching most often for Nintendo Wii Fit and Nintendo Wii.

PayPal Customers Cash In on Great Offers

Data from PayPal saw 34 percent more transactions than 2007 and showed a 26 percent increase in online payment volume on Black Friday as shoppers cashed in on exclusive discounts and promotions from some of PayPal’s largest merchants, including Buy.com. Shoppers who use PayPal to make purchases on Buy.com will receive up to $20.00 off Buy.com’s already-low prices and free shipping. This exclusive PayPal promotion gives Buy.com customers’ significant savings on some of the season’s hottest gifts while ensuring that you can pay quickly and securely.

PayPal’s Payflow Gateway data shows that on Black Friday consumers are shopping the most during lunch time, with 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM being the busiest purchasing time for the past three years.

Hot Products Are in Demand

Consumer spending habits this Black Friday suggest that Consumer Electronics products remain in demand this holiday season. On Shopping.com a GPS sold every nine minutes and an MP3 player every 11 minutes. Additionally, on eBay, the hottest products in this category included the Garmin Nuvi GPS and iPod Touch, with 596 and 415 sold, respectively.
