StarCraft and Diablo maker Blizzard already has a World of Warcraft film in development with Spider-man director Sam Raimi. What might twist the arm of Blizzard's top creators to get a StarCraft movie underway? James Cameron might!
Rob Pardo, executive VP of game design at Blizzard, tells MTV Multiplayer that it's still seeking "the right partners" for projects beyond its WoW movie plans. But if the director of a few billion dollar-grossing movies were to come along...
"...It's really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties," Pardo says. "I think if Jim Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, 'You want to make a 'StarCraft' movie?' we'd probably sign that." They probably really loved his work on Aquaman.
Cameron already has a full plate of projects post-Avatar. He's been working on a Battle Angel Alita adaptation forever, possibly more Avatar films and various other directorial projects. Of course, Blizzard still has two more StarCraft II expansions to pop out. While not much more than a hypothetical dream team name drop, everyone involved is pretty busy.
I'm sure our grandkids are gonna love it.
