There really aren’t any deeper depths for the current White House social media team to plumb. At this point they’re just living at bedrock and mining out sideways, looking for new, equally repulsive ways to openly laugh at the Trump administration’s gruesome detentions and the deaths of anyone suspected of being, or standing too close to, an immigrant. So it is that those mighty edgelords have launched arcade.gov, a website dedicated to knock-offs of familiar micro-arcade games, but here themed around racism or nonsensical propaganda. What japes!
This is all presented alongside the mimicry of a logo from a company that will be horrified by the association. Today it’s a “MAGA” logo in the style of Sega’s iconic lettering, although this is reserved for just the trailer, since none of the games is programmed well enough to have a splash screen. I can’t prove it either way, but it wouldn’t exactly cause me a shock to learn that each of the five games (with a promise of more to come!) was entirely vibe-coded. There’s certainly no sign of human imagination.

So it is that we can now play Rio Run, an especially shitty Snake clone in which you play as some guy picking up an ever-growing chain of immigrants behind you. You can tell they’re all immigrants because none of them is white and they all have black hair, and once picked up they are immediately rendered in an orange jumpsuit. It’s such a bad implementation of Snake that it somehow runs more poorly than it did on a Nokia 3310, which at least distracts from the pathetic racism of it all, but still. Fuck off.

Or how about Build the Wall, which is obviously a direct Tetris knock-off, but with the added revolting insult of your grid then being invaded by arcade aliens. Aliens, geddit?! Illegal aliens! Dehumanizing representations of humans for wacky laughs! Except it doesn’t operate like Tetris because lines of your wall don’t disappear when you fill them, but then you still lose when the blocks reach the top of the box? “BORDER BREACHED,” it declares, after no aliens get in because there’s a big wall in the way. What?
Then there’s Supply Line, a game in which you must sort school lunches to “Make America Healthy Again,” which has you punching unhealthy items from a conveyor belt, where “unhealthy” means “in colorful packaging,” and there are posters on the walls demonizing perfectly healthy “seed oils” and promoting “beef tallow,” because if nothing else this government is a parody of itself. I didn’t stick with it long enough to find out if you’re also supposed to allow raw milk and roadkill onto dinner plates.

Next we have Flappy Bill, a Flappy Bird-like in which you play as a bald eagle holding an unidentified bill, and that’s literally it. And finally there’s Trump Savings Tycoon, where you “fill your kids’ Trump accounts” by controlling a net with your mouse cursor and clicking on…blobs…as they fly over the screen. Look, I admit, I’m not American and while I try to keep up with Trump’s onslaught of stupidity as best I can, I’m not wholly certain that this is how his push for kids’ investment schemes works. Maybe it is! It wouldn’t entirely surprise me. I’m pretty certain my ability to catch $3,999,500 in the few minutes I spent with the game before I got too bored to carry on was a bit misleading, though.
None of the games come with instructions, so if there’s something else I was supposed to do in Racist Tetris, I’m not sure what it was, and I certainly don’t care to ever find out. None of these has any value as a game. The closest, I suppose, is Flappy Bill, given it just wholesale rips off the original, irritatingly compelling nature of Flappy Bird, but obviously even the worst Google Doodle game would offer you a thousand times more entertainment.
It’s all so depressingly rubbish. Just half-assed drivel, churned out as yet another troll on the White House’s official X account. Perhaps the most chilling thing about it is how normal this now feels, how this is just another day in Idiocracy.
