What could possibly link Sega's speedy blue hedgehog with a founding member of the Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance and a Renaissance-era Italian assassin? Meet Sonic the Hedgehog's new voice actor, Roger Craig Smith.
Having voiced two of gaming's most prominent cold-blooded killers over the past few years, Roger Craig Smith might seem like an odd choice to play Sega's colorful cartoon mascot Sonic. But Smith is a flexible voice actor, with a resume that includes Siegfried Schtauffen from Soul Calibur IV, along with Naruto's Diedara and both Shinji Hirako and Nova from Bleach. He even voiced Hot Rod from the Hasbro Transformers video game for the PlayStation 2, and that's one voice I can definitely see coming out of Sonic's mouth.
Along with Smi9th, Sega also reveals the voice of Naruto's Sakura - Kate Higgins - as the voice of tails, and the return of Mike Pollock as the voice of Dr. Eggman.
Of course, voice cast hasn't been Sonic's problem in the past few years, but it's a good start towards refreshing the franchise that Sega will hopefully continue with Sonic 4 and Sonic Colors.
