What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Me and Joe Capelli are gonna give them Chimera bastards some what for this weekend, showing 'em the business end of a fist (and a Bullseye) as I join in the resistance in... Resistance 3.

After feeling a little let down by Resistance 2, I'm doing my damnedest to play the third game with an open mind. A clean slate, if you will, for those things are required when one reviews a video game. I'm not even going to let that PS3 hard drive installation disaster from earlier this week color my impressions. That's just how impartial and objective I am, people!

When I'm not playing Resistance 3, I may pick up a little more Jetpack Joyride on my iPhone and celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the release of Advance Wars by busting out my Game Boy Advance (or GBA micro).

Xenoblladdddde! I didn't want to believe the hype, but I still imported the PAL version after paying about $57 incl. S&H.

Best purchase this year BY FAR. Trying to play Deus EX after seemed like a chore. Talk about value for the money. The main quest alone is worth double the price.

However, the one gripe is the inane amounts of MMO-lite side quests where the developers clearly wanted to manipulate the gamers into prolonging their experience when it actually achieved...nothing. My experience so far, just 28 hours in with no end it sight, really puts all the AAA titles of late to shame.

It's like Lost Odyssey when it comes to attachment to the toons. While it doesn't exactly scream "Thousand Year Dreams", the grandiose scale when it comes to plot, the music, the combat, and the overall package of the game correctly reincarnated the golden ages of JRPG of the past.
