What Are You Playing This Weekend?

When this editor gets home from GDC 2011, the first thing he'll be doing is buying a copy of Dead Space 2 add-on Severed. Slaying more necromorphs is just the kind of catharsis I could use right now.

The rest of the weekend will likely be spent writing, not playing. Previews of Trenched, Mortal Kombat, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and other video games I'm not allowed to write about just yet will take up some time off. I may also try to wrap up Bulletstorm, a game that's been a topic of discussion at GDC throughout the week.

Tonight, however, I'll be going to the Giant Robot SF art show, Game Over 4, to see neat things inspired by video games.

What are your plans for the weekend? Will it involve gaming?

I shouldn't be playing anything this weekend, since I've got a research paper due Wednesday! It's on how males and females have been, and are represented in games. It only has to be 3-6 pages, only half of what my last research paper was! So, it shouldn't be that tough. I just have trouble thinking about what to say, and how to organize my information. I'll definitely mention Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Metroid, and Donkey Kong with their representations of women, and modern FPS's with masculine stereotypes (macho men, sexualized women; Duke Nukem, I'm looking at you!)

I may play some community levels in LBP2, and some VVVVVV on Steam.
