These Horrific Facial Animations Will Infect Your Darkest Nightmares

Usually, the uncanny valley is something you want to avoid like the plague. But sometimes running head-first into it creates horrifying and gorgeous results.

Take the video above, Parametric Expression, by artist Mike Pelletier. Made in the open-source program Makehuman, the video blends odd repetitions of uncanny facial animations with a really disquieting soundtrack. It’s a very simple video, but oddly disturbing and beautiful.
