Tomb Raider, the video game, is starting fresh with a new Lara Croft adventure planned to reinvigorate the 15-year-old series. That game, simply called Tomb Raider, will be an origin story of sorts for Lara. Now, Hollywood is following suit with its own reboot, planning a new Tomb Raider flick for 2013.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that GK Films has snapped up the franchise's film rights, perhaps telling an origin story of its own, one that would logically rule out Angelina Jolie returning as shorts-wearing adventure Lara Croft. Jolie played her in two films, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003).
That GK Films is also aiming "create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft" is a good indication that Jolie is out. Who can possibly don Lara's trademark cleavage-maximizing tops and short shorts for a new Tomb Raider movie? Your casting choices are welcome in the comments.
