The first Assassin's Creed, much like the second, only came out on three systems: the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. But did you know that, alongside production of the original game, another was in development for the PS2 & Xbox?
So says Eidos' Jonathan Jacques-Belletete, who told 1UP that the last-gen game, like Assassin's Creed II, was in no way related to the story of Altair, the first game's protagonist, and had "a whole different story, with whole different environments and enemies and everything". Or, at least it did, before it was binned by the publisher.
No word on why it was cancelled, but you have to wonder whether this parallel story will turn up again in a future edition of the franchise.
