Ack!
That's Goro Majima, a character in Sega's Yakuza game. He will be the protagonist of Sega's new Yakuza title. But isn't the Tokyo-based game company already working on a new Yakuza game? Yes, yes it is. But that game, Yakuza: New Chapter Black Panther is for the PSP. Like previous entries in the series, the game will arrive on the PlayStation home platform.
Unlike other Yakuza games, the game will not focus on the adventures of main hero Kazuma Kiryu. Instead, the game's protagonist will be Goro Majima. Yakuza designer Toshihiro Nagoshi stresses that Majima will be playable in the forthcoming game.
This new Yakuza title does not yet have a title or a release window. The game's concept is "destruction". And the team is reworking the Yakuza game system for this title. With a new lead character, Sega seems poised to take the Yakuza series in a new direction.
The first Yakuza game was released in Japan in 2005 on the PS2. The second was released the following year. A spin-off, Yakuza: Kenzan, hit the PS3 in 2008. Yakuza 3 was released in 2009. Yakuza 4 was released in 2010.
There seems to be a pattern here.
