Ever Wondered how much money the video game industry contributes to the US economy? Or how many people it employs? Or where all those employees live?

The Entertainment Software Association has released a new report that answers all those questions and then some.

There are, for example, 32,000 people working in the video game industry at a developer or publisher. There are another 120,000 working at peripheral organisations like specialist retailers, distributors or the media. The average salary of a gaming industry employee is $89,781, which is surely blown out of proportion by executive salaries, and the industry contributed around $5 billion to the US economy last year.
