For reference that’s about the same number of people as the population of Switzerland, although probably a lot less neutral.

The info was picked up on Steam’s stat page (via NeoGAF/Polygon) and saw the service hit 8,020,834 concurrent users at around 7pm UK time (midday America o’clock) on Sunday June 29th, breaking the previous 7 million record set in December 2013. The boost here’s probably from people having a last weekend check even though the sale’s actually still on today. Safe to say it’s hit its peak for time being, though.

I guess there is a fair chunk that did purposely log-in, but I would also expect that there's a percentage who were logged in possibly just by having it sign-in on start-up.

But still, really impressive numbers. And looking by those who took part in sales, you can see how much money Valve are making through these sales.

I just wish they'd have the same level of creative pushing and promotion with games that aren't on sale. Sometimes developers need some full price exposure, as well as their $1.00 sales.
