If you don't know Raymond Swanland by name, you may well know him by his work. A veteran concept artist, Swanland has worked across numerous fields, but around these parts will probably look most familiar to people for his Oddworld and Magic: The Gathering images.

Swanland spent eight years working on the classic Oddworld series, across four games, before moving on to work on the MIA Oddworld movie. His stuff can now be seen on things like fantasy novels, album covers, comics and card games, where his M:TG art continues to blow minds.

I imagine the artist was probably dropped as a child and now, years later, has a constant "Two Steps From Hell" playlist running through his head 24/7.

In his world, massive lightning strikes occur on average two times a second and gale-force winds rage constantly over a bleak and barren land populated by screaming muscular people forever frozen in tragically-epic positions and spineless semi-nude women whose back arches make chiropractors weep.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a very good artist, but the over-the-top ridiculousness of this kind of art style, especially regarding the way the some of the women are posed, makes me cringe.
