One of these days, when we least expect it, the Nintendo eShop will update and the new Nintendo Video app will be available for download. Until then, it's simply a placeholder in this week's Nintendo Download.
This morning's update to Nintendo's various downloadable game services brings with it an eShop teaser. Heading to the store on your Nintendo 3DS will reveal an entry for Nintendo Video under new items, but no way to actually download the free application. What gives?
Perhaps there's just no video available yet. When the service is downloadable, it'll grab the latest 3D videos from Nintendo via the handheld's Spotpass feature once they become available, and it will remove them when their time is up. It's like the OK-Go video that used to be available for the 3DS, timed free content that disappears from your SD card when it expires.
While we wait for that service to start up we can enjoy the real games that are actively present and accounted for, like the 3D Classics version of arcade shooter Xevious, now ready to be played in brain-throttling headache-o-vision! Technology is truly a wondrous thing.
