The Live-Action Alita: Battle Angel Trailer Exists And It's Uncomfortable

The guy who produced Avatar is adapting the classic manga Battle Angel Alita to the big screen, because that’s certainly what we needed, and there’s a new trailer for it.

Although Avatar writer James Cameron wrote the screenplay (argh), Robert Rodriguez, who directed Sin City, will be directing Alita: Battle Angel. Cameron has said that the movie will take the manga’s “spine story.”

Sure, the new Fullmetal Alchemist movie proved that not all anime/manga live-action movies are determined to suck. And yet, this trailer smells of whatever made the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie not good. The environmental designs are gorgeous. I’m a little worried about the dialogue.

Also—can we talk about those eyes?

Why the eyes? Seriously, just because they were a bit large in the comic (it was an 80s manga - of course they were!), it wasn’t intended that they were abnormally big.

And why isn’t she a bike courier anymore? :P
