The Kotaku Mixtape Vol 5: All The Cheesy Game Music You Can Handle

There is a very sick part of me that loves cheesy music and movies. I blame it on being left alone with basic cable in the 1990's: You couldn't change the channel without hearing some schmaltzy song playing in the background!

And so today on the Kotaku Mixtape, we're celebrating at some of the cheesiest songs to ever grace video games.

Some of these songs are great, like the silly and glib "War's Never Been So Much Fun" from the Amiga game Cannon Fodder. Others, like "Bundle of Nerves" from the 3DO game Virtuoso, are despicable, foul things that perhaps are best left forgotten. That said, they all have one thing in common: They're all teeth-grindingly tacky.

Check the video above to experience the tackiness.

Angels With Burning Hearts - Burning Rangers
War Has Never Been So Much Fun - Cannon Fodder
Night Trap - Night Trap
Slingshot (Japanese Version) - Daytona USA 2
Girl in the Tower - King's Quest VI
Rogue Warrior Rap - Rogue Warrior (Featuring Vocals by Mickey Rourke)
Dreams Dreams - NiGHTS into DREAMS…
Bundle of Nerves - Virtuoso
I Am The Wind - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Also, if you have any ideas you'd want to hear done as a playlist, feel free to let me know in the comments.

Arrogant Bastard

I played NiGHTS into DREAMS on Sega Saturn, and I still have a few tracks from that game in my music library today. The continue screen music, the boss fight against Reala, and the remix of that song for when you played versus mode. Ripped it straight from that Saturn disc itself all those years ago. Time sure does fly.......
