Wildermyth
Wildermyth is a love-letter to Table-Top Roleplaying games, but instead of filling itself with references to the genre, the team at Worldwalker Games has chosen to systematize it through a surprisingly deep tactical RPG that involves a light choice system and some of the best procedurally developed characters and stories we’ve seen. Wildermyth is not a game about moments though, it’s a game about how people’s lives shift over time—which is why its unique generational structure makes it so damn good. Seeing young heroes go out into the world, suffer tragedy and triumph alike, and then go on to develop relationships with one another and the next generation of heroes before retiring, is one of the best feelings in video games this year.
