Smash Bros. pro Tantalus proposed to his girlfriend at a recent tournament put on by Xanadu. Staying true to the setting, the romantic scene unfolded with some extremely hype shoutcasting. As in: one guy screaming, "OH MY GOD HE'S GETTING MARRIED" so loudly you might've thought Olimar just won the entire competition.
And since the whole thing was being streamed live on Twitch, there was also one person in the comments shouting "SUCK HIS DICK" when Tantalus first took Jess under his arm and gathered the room together to start singing her happy birthday. But then all the commenters got caught up in all the warm and fuzzy feelings when he got down on one knee and presented her with a ring.
Awwwww. He sure wasn't kidding when he told his Twitter followers to expect a "special announcement" on that night's livestream:
Though it took a little longer to bubble up on Reddit, Tantalus's proposal actually went down as a smashing success (pun very much intended) just before another show-stealing proposal interrupted a recent speedrun at the Awesome Games Done Quick 2015 event. Again in true Smash form, Tantalus made sure to remind everyone that he still placed in first:
Own your victory, Tantalus. It certainly looks like you earned it.
Now...what do you think the commentary at the wedding will be like? "OH MY GOD THAT MAN HAS A FAMILY!!!"
