Game design doesn't have to be a multi-million, multi-year ordeal. Just ask the people who made games for our WarioWare D.I.Y. Warioware contest.

We gave you a week to design and submit your own mini games for a chance to win some pretty amazing prizes. The grand prize winner receives a Nintendo DSi XL system, one DigiPen Institute of Technology online class, a set of WarioWare games (WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, WarioWare: Twisted!, WarioWare: Touched! and WarioWare: Smooth Moves), one Nintendo World store gift card (worth $1,000 value), a WarioWare: D.I.Y. T-shirt package and a Nintendo Points Card for 2,000 points.

Ten runners-up will receive a WarioWare: D.I.Y. T-shirt package and a Nintendo Points Card worth 2,000 points each. We'll also randomly select ten valid entries to receive a WarioWare: D.I.Y. T-shirt package.

Last week we narrowed our nearly 100 entries down to just 11, and then the editors examined them to decide which we thought was the best.

It was a surprisingly close call, with each editor selecting a different favorite. In the end it happened to come down to Totilo and I, who agreed on the same entry.

The grand prize winner of our contest, and recipient of an awfully big grand prize (once we've confirmed his or her eligibility) is... Skitch and his amazing role-playing game. The game has you taking on two enemies each round, with randomized weaknesses. Not only do you have to read quickly which attack hurts which first, but the weaknesses for the enemies don't always show up in the same order. Pretty amazing job Skitch.

Just because Skitch won the grand prize, doesn't mean that the other entries weren't amazing. They all blew us away. The art, the gameplay, the music of every game was beyond anything I could imagine ever being able to create.

Thank you everyone for your hard work. Skitch and the remaining ten finalists should email me their mailing addresses to me so I can get the prizes rolling.

We'll be announcing the random winners of the t-shirts a bit later today, picking from the remaining entrants. Sorry, we were a bit late on giving you the winner.

Thanks everyone. As always, you hit it out of the ball park. Hope it was fun.
