Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut

Black Tabby Games’ horror visual novel is full of grotesque art, time-loop shenanigans, and a ton of existentialism. Slay the Princess starts with a simple premise: there’s a princess trapped in an old house, and if she escapes, she’ll destroy the world. That’s all you’re told, so clearly you should stop her, right? But what if you didn’t? What if you talked to her? What if you just turned around and didn’t enter the house? There are a lot more options in front of you than you’re initially led to believe, and you’ll have time to try all of them because you will repeat this scenario until you find the truth. The titular Princess may present herself to you as a damsel in distress, or she can be the monster you’re told she is. But what is she really? You’ll have to go through multiple loops to find out, and each of them is worth the trip down the stairwell. — Kenneth Shepard
