That's One Way To Sell The Basic Wii U

With a new Wii U Deluxe set coming out on November 1 featuring two Mario games, how can Nintendo possibly sell new Wii buyers on the basic unit? How about an exclusive Skylanders: Swap Force figure?

The Limited Edition Skylanders: Swap Force Wii U Basic Set is actually a pretty good deal, especially if you're not a big fan of Mario or storage space. It's the basic white Wii U, a Skylanders: Swap Force starter kit with an exclusive color-shifting Washbuckler figure, and a copy of Nintendo Land on disc — the deluxe set doesn't even get that anymore.

With the Swap Force starter set running $75 on its own, it's like getting a basic Wii U for $225, and considering folks will pay a premium for that Washbuckler figure on eBay if you don't want it, it's even cheaper than that. Just don't mention the exclusive figure from last year's Wii bundle was recently released at retail on the cheap.

Not bad. I have the 32GB model but really, it doesn't even matter anymore. I used to care about internal storage last gen when it meant pricey internal drives or even worse, proprietary memory cards or HDDs. But now that you can plug in whatever external storage you have laying about on the Wii-U, who even cares? I don't even have my 32GB full yet, but I have a 32GB thumb drive in the back and a 16GB SD card as well for a total of 80GB and this is just crap I had laying around. Check your couch cushions and you can probably find some cheap storage that will work on this thing.
