That's No Moon...It's A Video Game Space Station

Space combat/trading MMO EVE Online has a new expansion called Citadel. Even as someone who doesn’t play the game, I am very impressed by the scale of what’s going on here.

I mean...look at the size of those stations. These are things that groups of players in the game can actually build, own and use, with the largest stations big enough to house docking bays for the game’s massive super-capital ships.

They’re not just trophies, either; as you’ll see at the end of clip, they also explode, meaning the game’s famously punchy factions are going to have a blast blowing each other’s big fancy houses up.

What I like best, though, is how—like EVE’s ships—these stations look cool. Too many sci-fi video games are brought down a peg by having their designs look like they fell out of a cheap 90s TV series. EVE’s citadels look sharp, unique and worth every penny players are going to have to spend on them.

Every time I see a trailer for something new or awesome in EVE Online, I greatly want to try the game, but then I remember that one time a few years ago when I tried a free trial and I was like

and then the trial ends.
