The company that gave the world Mario, Link, and Samus is the undisputed champ of the modern console war, with nearly 150 million Switches sold since 2017. But now, speculation is rampant about the company's next console, rumored to launch in 2025.

The very fine rhythm game Thumper hits Nintendo Switch today. I’ve been playing the Switch version over the last couple days, and it’s a good port. Looks nice, runs at 60fps, and feels good too, thanks to the Switch’s handcrafted artisan controller rumble.

Nintendo showed the first glimpse of Splatoon 2's single-player mode, called “Hero Mode,” at the end of today’s Nintendo Direct. This is where all the “Squid Sisters Stories” stuff was leading, as you may have guessed. Since the original Splatoon’s single-player was excellent, I have high hopes.

Nintendo will hold free “Global Testpunch” online beta tests for its motion-controlled Switch brawler Arms, it said during today’s Nintendo Direct. You’ll be able to play a selection of characters and modes during the weekends of May 26-28 and June 2-4.

There will be a Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 6pm Eastern, “exclusively focused on ARMS.” Nintendo adds that there’ll be a Splatoon 2 trailer at the end of the presentation. We’re not getting our hopes up for surprises this time.
