According to a new report, a lot of people are trying to find images of Madame Web star Sydney Sweeneyâs bare breasts on X, formerly Twitter, and a load of hackers, trolls, and other nefarious players are taking advantage of this horny search and filling the social media site with malware links.
Letâs back up real fast. Last week, Sydney Sweeney hosted Saturday Night Live and showed off some cleavage. This was apparently enough to break the brains of many internet users, leading to a round of strange discourse claiming her breasts were the end of âWokeness,â an example of how women can be themselves, a form of body positivity, another example of young women being turned into sex icons against their will, and then, eventually, people begging everyone to stop spending so much time talking about her breasts. (Can you tell that many parts of the internet weâve relied on for years are dying and rotting?) Anyway, to capitalize on all of this boob discourse, some shady folks are using the promise of Sweeneyâs breasts to lure folks into malware traps.
As reported by 404 Media, during the height of all this boob-y discourse, âSydney Sweeney leakâ became a top trending topic on X. Even almost a week later, itâs still one of the very first suggested searches that appear in the search bar if you start looking up the actor on the social media site. As noted by the outlet and confirmed by Kotaku, searching for her name will return a mix of results that often feature links to âleaked sexâ videos starring the popular Euphoria star sprinkled between random posts and news about Sweeney.
But there is no leaked sex video of Sweeney anywhere on the internet. Instead, as confirmed by 404 Media, itâs all links to malware.
If you actually click on any of the Sweeney boob links, which you shouldnât do, youâll find Linktree sites containing links to download malicious and annoying popup adware software that hijacks your browser and computer. Clicking around these links, which again you shouldnât do, wonât reveal secret videos of celebrity boobs but will likely lead to your PCâs antivirus software popping up to warn you to run away, fast.

If this sounds familiar, itâs because this has been happening over and over again. We saw it recently with deep-faked pornographic content featuring Taylor Swift andpodcast host Bobbi Althoff trending on the social media platform for hours. And as with this latest incident, people used those fake leaks to promote adware, malware, and other nasty computer viruses and scams. This trend of using fake leaks or AI images of female celebrities to lure horny Twitter users into malware traps is just the latest example of the social media site falling apart and turning into a lawless ghost town under Elon Muskâs ownership.
If youâve used the site regularly in the last few months, youâve likely seen a huge increase in porn bots, scam ads, and engagement-bait posts designed to anger peopleâoften using fake infoâto make money using itsad revenue sharing policy. And while the site before Musk wasnât great, it wasnât as bad as this. Using Twitter/X today in 2024 is like using 4chanâboth lack moderation and are dangerous to engage with unless you have a virus blocker and a decent understanding of how to avoid scams and traps.
