After years of licensing third parties to create expensive statues and replicas based on its hit video game properties, Blizzard’s taking high-end collectibles in house. Blizzard Collectibles kicks off with an array of existing pieces, joined by one hell of a rendition of Overwatch’s spidery sniper.

While I wait patiently for an overpriced Reinhardt statue, Widowmaker joins the previously released Tracer and Reaper Overwatch statues in Blizzard Collectibles’ opening line up. Other pre-existing pieces include a pair of $350 World of Warcraft statues and the $225 Heathstone keepsake box.

The Widowmaker statute, up for preorder now for $150 with a release date in the third quarter of the year, stands 13.5 inches tall from heels to hair. She was designed and sculpted by members of Blizzard’s Overwatch team, who probably didn’t have anything better to do anyway.

“We tend to go all-in when it comes to representing the things we’re passionate about in our work, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with this new line of high-end statues, replicas, and artwork,” said Matthew Beecher, vice president of global consumer products at Blizzard Entertainment via official announcement. “Our goal with Blizzard Collectibles is to produce pieces of art that capture the personality of our games, and we’re excited to share these premium items with gamers and collectors worldwide.”

You still have to pay, even if they are sharing. It still counts as caring, I think.

Tempting, but I shall hold out for Reinhardt, as bulky and expensive as he will likely be. Maybe we’ll get him next, as Blizzard plans several more additions to the line later in 2017.
