Street Fighter X Tekken Spawns the World's First Fighting Game-Centric Reality Show

Not content with merely streaming live matches leading up to the March release of the Street Fighter X Tekken fighting game crossover, Capcom has teamed with iPlayWinner and Team Spooky to create Cross Assault, a live week-long $25,000 tournament masquerading as an internet reality show.

Cross Assault will see two fighting game veterans attempting to coach two groups of five players — Team Street Fighter and Team Tekken — to ultimate victory and $25,000 in prize money. Over the course of a week in late February Capcom will live broadcast team challenges, practice sessions, elimination matches, and candid interviews with the players on both teams, giving us a window into the world of competitive gaming.

And Cross Assault could give you more than a window. Capcom is currently looking for players to round out both teams. All you have to do is create a video blog explaining why you'd be a good fit on the show. They're looking for fighting game players with strong personalities, so good luck with that.

Oh come on, I'm just kidding. There are plenty of those out there.

The whole shebang culminates in the finals, which will take place live on stage at the Final Round in Atlanta, so who knows? Maybe you'll even get to meet me. That's better than $25,000 any day (except existing ones).

Hit up the link below for more info on the event and how you can participate in fighting game history.

Hi Seoul Sister. My name is Jeff and I am one of the tourney organizers at Final Round. I work for Shinblanka and his crew in Atlanta. I have been running brackets for Guilty Gear, Blazblue and other games as needed for almost 10 years now. I wanted to personally apologize that you didn't have a good experience at Final Round. I know the staff and the people who work with Shinblanka would have definitely done something if you mentioned any disrespect towards you. We do not tolerate that kind of nonsense. I am sorry something like that happened. I know there are some individuals in the community who are total losers and will harp on things like race, sex and other ignorant things... but that is not what Final Round represents. I am a random white guy but the staff is made up of tons of white, black, asian, hispanic etc... as are all of the people who come to compete. Almost half of our staff are females as well. That is what Final Round is truly about.... a place where people of all shapes and sizes can gather to test there skill and learn. That's all anyone who is passionate about the community would ever really want.... growth. Growth regardless of who and what you are... Growth based off of your interest.

Final Round has brought you things like this in just last year... Its amazing..

Its true that things can get hype and sometimes people will shout while players play.... Now that we are addressing space however, this will change. We have moved out of the smaller hotel we used to play in for so many years do to the boom of so many new players coming. Now we have moved to the Hilton in Atlanta and I promise you will have plenty of room. If anyone is offending you or your space, immediately tell a staff member and we will solve the problem. Sometimes people will have to leave. Still, it should always be about the love for the game. It makes me sad that some ignorant people would ruin your experience as a whole. Final Round prides itself on its support for the players.

Please reconsider your stance on Final Round. This goes for anyone here, if you come to Final Round this year, I promise you are going to have the time of your life if you love fighting games. There are still announcements coming and things are bigger then ever this year, especially with this event coming up. Peace everyone and enjoy.
