Square Enix announced that Nier: Automata is coming to the Xbox One on June 26th, 2018, then they removed the announcement page. According to the now-removed page, it will be released in a “Become As Gods” edition that includes the “3C3C1D119440927" DLC and some cosmetic items.
I’m not a fan of new editions being released on new consoles, to players that have never played it, with subtitles such as “Become As Gods” being a dead giveaway to plot twists in the game. Again, no one on this console has likely played it, so why have a reference already in the title? At the very least it’s projecting the theme of a game for all to see. Imagine a re-release of something like Home Alone with a title like, “Home Alone: Family is important” edition.
It just makes me groan.
