The last time publisher Take-Two talked about Spec Ops: The Line, the sandy, Dubai-based shooter, it was due no later than March 31, 2012. The new Spec Ops now has another new release date drawn in the sand.

Take-Two updated the release window for Spec Ops: The Line today from fiscal year 2012 to first half fiscal 2013. In real world terms, that means sometime between April 1, 2012 and September 30, 2012. The game, announced at the end of 2009 and shown at last year's E3, was originally scheduled for Take-Two's 2011 fiscal year.

Spec Ops: The Line had an Xbox 360-only, multiplayer beta test last year.

Yager Development is planning to bringing Spec Ops: The Line to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

You know what... we need more modern war third person shooters, we have like 5 different franchise of modern war FPSs but no TPSs? From the top of my head, COD, MOH, Battlefield, ArmA and soon... the EA published Respawn studio franchise, you know it's going to be a modern warfare FPS.

Pity... We all could use a decent modern war TPS this year, because SOCOM 4 just doesn't cut it. And this, although it looks like it's going to be a 7-8 game at best, actually looks better than SOCOM 4 IMO.
