Two weeks ago, the first ever numbered Pokémon sequels, Pokémon White Version 2 and Pokémon Black Version 2, were released in Japan. As the name implies, these games mark the first time players spend an entire game returning to a region from a previous title and seeing how the region has progressed.

In Pokémon Black and White 2 players take over a new character who is venturing out into the world for the first time. Three hundred Pokémon chosen from across all the previous generations populate the world in Black and White 2. The game includes new locations, new gym leaders, a way to battle heroes and villains from past Pokémon titles, and a movie studio series of mini-games.

Pokémon White Version 2 and Pokémon Black Version 2 were released for the DS on June 23, 2012 in Japan and will be released in North America on October 7, 2012 (October 12 for PAL). Stay tuned to Kotaku East for our import preview next week.
