See Kenshin Return to Action in This New Fighting Game

Kotaku EastEast is your slice of Asian internet culture, bringing you the latest talking points from Japan, Korea, China and beyond. Tune in every morning from 4am to 8am.

Two-and-a-half weeks ago, popular 90's anime Rurouni Kenshin exploded onto the Japanese cinema scene with the series' first live-action movie. However, that was not the only Kenshin-related item to get a release that week. Sequel to last year's Rurouni Kenshin Saisen, Rurouni Kenshin Kansei is a PSP fighting game with a roster of nearly all of Kenshin's friends and rivals. Moreover, the game covers the entirety of Kenshin's story—from his time as an assassin in Japan's last civil war to the final story arc that was shown only in the manga and never in the anime.

To see how the game looks in action, check out the video above.

Rurouni Kenshin Kansei was released on August 30, 2012, for the PlayStation Portable in Japan. Stay tuned to Kotaku East for the import preview later this week.

I'm really hoping this movie will translate into a new Kenshin anime somewhere down the line; one that focuses on the third arc that wasn't in the original series. It doesn't need to be a drawn out affair; just 26 episodes would be more than enough to do it.
