I was just chatting with Chris Person about Game of the Year contenders, and Gone Home was certainly a part of the conversation. If you haven't played it yet, you're missing out, and it's $10 today on the official site. [Gone Home]

We hear a lot of complaints about the pricing on Vita memory, so here's another chance to save on the 16GB card. Doesn't come up very often.

Gone Home isn't just one of the worst games I've played this year, it's amongst the worst I've ever finished. The story was bland/uninteresting and is conveyed far too formulaically. That would've been fine if it didn't far outpace every other facet as the crux of the game, but it's completely devoid of any engrossing/fun gameplay to fall back on. Two compliments that I can give it, however, is that the writing stays true-to-period and the sense of atmosphere is great. (minus the inclusion of "magic doors," i.e. they swing in either direction) Still, the latter is all but completely squandered 15 minutes into the game after the player comes to the realization that there's zero worthwhile conflict.

*"conflict" needn't be combat, FYI
