This weekend, many noticed something curious: some Halo titles were listed in the Steam registry. Some assumed this meant that these titles were coming to Steam. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, that's not the case.

"We currently do not have plans to release any 'Halo' titles on Steam," said a Microsoft spokesperson to Kotaku.

Skeptical? I wouldn't blame you. When folks say there aren't any plans, it sometimes actually means "not yet."

It's worth noting that, unlike other titles which have now been confirmed—like DyadHalo 2 and Halo 3 pages were almost immediately taken down and can no longer be accessed. Maybe that means something. Maybe not.

We'll keep you updated if anything changes.

Microsoft does not care about the modern PC market. I cannot repeat this enough.

They might have at one time, decades ago, but once the first Xbox launched they kicked the PC to the curb. Oh, you released Halo, Halo 2, and Gears of War? On PC? And all at least a year or more after their console counterparts? Thank you, may I have another kick to the groin?

They won't release Halo 3, or 4, or any more of the Gears of War games besides the original. They won't put Halo 1 or 2 on Steam. They will continue to give the Xbox most of their funding and keep their PC port division chained up in the basement, subsisting off gruel and rats.
