Microsoft may be offering a much more valuable version of its Xbox 360 Elite package, one that packs in two of the console's biggest games, all for the exact same price its charging now.

Ars Technica's "mole" says that the Xbox 360 maker is planning to bundle Halo 3 and Fable II into a new Elite package. If true, that may explain why other retail-sourced rumors indicate that the current version of the Elite console would be phased out by the manufacturer.

At $400 USD, the current asking price for an Xbox 360 Elite, throwing in two games that retail for about $100 makes the package a hell of a lot more attractive. For anyone who hasn't yet "jumped in," starting off with two blockbusters makes a lots of gaming fiscal sense.

Ars' mole has been right before, correctly calling the Resident Evil 5 Elite bundle the company started selling last month.
