PSP Takes A Slice Of Japan’s Pie

Sales of Sony’s PlayStation Portable may be way down—just like sales of the Nintendo DS—but the rival handhelds managed to carve out small victories in Japan this week.

The PSP and the three flavors of the Nintendo DS dominate Media Create’s weekly sales chart, moving a good 60,000 units between the two of them. Nintendo won that handheld battle by a smidge. The PlayStation 3 is still outselling the Wii in Japan, despite the latter console having the bestselling game in the country right now.

Here’s how it went down for the week of October 18 to 24.

PSP – 32,591

PS3 – 20,128

DSi LL – 15,819

DSi – 14,703

Wii – 11,971

DS Lite – 3,887

Xbox 360 – 2,162

PS2 – 1,222

PSP go – 924
