The PlayStation DualSense is already a pretty feature-packed controller. With it, you get extra doodads like the touch pad, gyro controls, and adaptive triggers—features not found on the Xbox controller, mind you. Though the DualSense still does not represent the upper limit of what Sony is capable of with its controller design. For that, you must look to the PlayStation DualSense Edge. This is the controller made for capital-G Gamers who want complete control over their controllers with series of customizations you won’t find on the standard controller that came packed with your PS5. For a limited time, Amazon has the PlayStation DualSense Edge on sale for 15% off. That discount ends up taking the controller down from its $200 MSRP to a slightly more attainable $169. Save yourself a good $31 while the Amazon deal is still active.

Customized Gaming Experience

With the PlayStation DualSense Edge, you get three sets of changeable analog sticks. The first pair is the default sticks you’d find on the standard DualSense controller—the set that has the gripped edges. Next is a pair with a more rounded surface, closer to the sticks found on the PlayStation 3 and its predecessor consoles. Last is that again, but the stick are longer allowing for more precise control of your action. The entire stick module can also be replaced if it ever wears down later in its life.

The triggers can each be individually adjusted, changing out the travel distance of each to best match what it is you’re playing. If you want a short hair trigger for a fast-paced FPS, you can go ahead and do that.

Perhaps the biggest bonus you get with the PlayStation DualSense Edge over the regular DualSense is the mappable back buttons. The controller is equipped with two swappable button on the backside of the controller that can be set to the same input as any other button on the controller. This is particularly great for shooters. Usually, jumping, reloading, switching weapons, sliding—things of that nature—are relegated to the face buttons. This means you need to take your right thumb off its stick to engage in one of these actions, stopping your aim. Assigning a couple of these functions to the back buttons means always being in control of where your crosshair is pointed in the heat of battle.

Playing Destiny 2 with jumping and sliding duplicated on the paddles means I can have complete dominance of my movement throughout the arena. I also found it especially helpful during my playthrough of Elden Ring which allowed me to spring while maintaining my control over the camera without condemning myself to the infamous claw grip.

All of this comes with a sleek case which can be used to store your DualSense Edge when traveling or just to keep it safe when you’re done gaming. It also can house all the extras components that are currently in use, safely in one place.
