Tekken 7 isn’t the only fighting game Noctis is headed to these days. He’ll also be gracing Dissidia Final Fantasy with his presence. Square Enix showed off the young prince’s moves in a two year anniversary stream for the game earlier today.
The game is currently out in arcades in Japan, but will also be releasing for the PS4 in the form of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT next January both there and in the states. North America fans have had to wait patiently for the game to make its way West, although a beta version of it currently available to some hasn’t been free from issues (namely lag).
Final Fantasy characters brawling are still Final Fantasy characters brawling though. In the latest footage, Noctis showed he’ll have all his weapons at his disposal much like in Final Fantasy XV. He’ll be able to trade out between lances, hulking broadswords, and one-handed sabers at a moment’s notice and also close in fast with his magical teleportation ability.
The stream also detailed what data Japanese players will be able to swap between arcade versions of the game and the PS4 copies, like different unlocks and achievements, a cool feature that’s nevertheless not relevant to the rest of us.
The game’s director has said in the past that he thinks Dissidia has the potential to become a global esport, and with the game’s launch in other regions just a couple months away, he’ll finally have a chance to test that hypothesis.
The entire Square Enix stream is available to watch below.
