Nintendo has released its 2009 fiscal year end results. For the financial year ending March 31, 2009, the company posted record highs for both sales and operating profit.
The Kyoto-based game company reported sales of 1.83 trillion yen, which is up 9 percent from the previous year, and it reported operating profits of over 555 billion yen, which is up 14 percent from 2008.
While Nintendo is still going strong, sales and profits have slowed compared to the previous financial year. Back in December, Nintendo released a revised financial forecast with decreased sales.
Update While Nintendo did have a strong year, Reuters points out that the company had a rough fourth quarter — the same is true about many businesses in this economic climate. The company expects the first fall in DS sales since launch and expects the first dip in operating profit in four years. This all being said, the company has been doing far better than other electronics companies.
